Object Management Group (OMG) is an open membership, not-for-profit consortium that produces and maintains computer industry specifications for interoperable enterprise applications. Our membership includes virtually every large company in the computer industry, and hundreds of smaller ones.

The flagship specification is the multi-platform Model Driven Architecture (MDA). It is based on the modelling specifications the MOF, the UML, XMI, and CWM. OMG's own middleware platform is CORBA, which includes the Interface Definition Language OMG IDL, and protocol IIOP.

See http://www.omg.org/ for more information.

With the recent merger of Business Process Management Initiative's activities into Object Management Group (OMG), there is now a single organisation creating industry specifications for designing and modelling both business activities and the software to automate them.

Business-related specifications being developed within this combined process include BPMN (the Business Process Modeling Notation), an underlying Business Process Definition Metamodel (BPDM) and the Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Business Rules (SBVR)
