Presentation: "Open Source Software: How does it compare?"
Tuesday 10:45 - 11:30, Private Room
As an independent automated software inspection provider, Reasoning is in a unique position to validate and compare the software quality of many different projects from different organizations and industries. In this session, European Support Manager Rix Groenboom will present quality measurements for number of comparisons, all of which can be used to determine "rate of success." These include C++ versus Java, Open Source versus closed source, and desktop/application versus embedded/system software. Experimental data is obtained from inspections of Linux, Apache and Tomcat. Mr. Groenboom will draw some conclusions - based on real-life experience over hundreds of inspection projects - about which techniques, programming languages, and development methods have resulted in the highest software quality.
